Looking Forward: A New Chapter for Buttle UK with our 2025-30 strategy

At Buttle UK, we are driven by a single, powerful vision: poverty and crisis should not define a child’s future. As we close the chapter on our 2020–2025 strategy—with the incredible milestone of having supported over 25,000 children through our Chances for Children grants—we’re proud to launch a bold new vision for the next five years.

Our new 2025–2030 strategy is rooted in everything we’ve learned through direct work with families, our grant-making data, and—most importantly—the voices of the children and young people we support. It marks a shift from addressing immediate need alone to tackling the systemic challenges that keep children trapped in cycles of poverty and crisis.

Context and who we are

Over the last five years, every grant we’ve given has represented a light in the dark—an opportunity for a child to feel supported, to be included, to dream. Whether it’s a bed to sleep in, clothes that fit, therapy to help heal, or support to stay in school, these small interventions add up to big change. As we celebrate this impact, we’re not slowing down.

We know the need is growing. Today, 4.5 million children are living in poverty in the UK. That’s why our new strategy has three bold aims:

Our Strategic Objectives

1. Delivering Impactful Grants

We’ll continue to provide fast, flexible, and essential grants to children and young people in crisis. But we’ll also go deeper—offering long-term support to those facing the most complex challenges, and evolving our grant model to be even more empowering and equitable.

2. Amplifying Our Voice for Change

We’ve seen firsthand the systems that fail families when they need help the most. Through our research, data, and co-production work, we will influence policy and practice.

3. Harnessing Our Resources

With a strong endowment and ambitious fundraising goals, we are investing in partnerships, innovation, and infrastructure that will ensure we can support even more children in the years to come.

Shaped by Young People

This strategy was developed through deep collaboration—with our staff, trustees, funders, and most importantly, young people themselves. Our Youth Advisory Panel comprises of young people who have been recipients of our grants. Their lived-experience and insight continues to guide our work and ensure we stay true to what matters: being child-focused, empathetic, responsive, and collaborative.

To mark this transition, we’re also working on a short animated film to share this journey and celebrate the difference made, one child at a time.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to our founding mission: to ensure that every child has the chance to thrive, no matter their background or circumstances.
